"Meditation has taught me how to be calm, how to deal with stress and cope with challenges.   Practice always reminds me that there is no past or future, instead it will take me to where I am meant to be - the present.

Sometimes we spend too much time considering whether we should or should not do something. We will never know what something is going to be like until we try it, so if you’re thinking of trying meditation, my advice would be to ‘just do it’!"

"Through meditation, I’m happier and feel more in control of my emotional responses. My ability to stay in the present moment rather than ruminating on past decisions and actions has increased, and is noticeably affected by regular practice.

If I notice I am slipping into feeling stressed, I try and resume meditation for just 10-20 minutes per day. I notice an improvement in my stress levels and happiness.

beanddo’s classes with Mick are fantastic - straightforward, really accessible and a great way to get started or to reinforce your practice."

"I use meditation to help control anxious responses to situations – 'catastrophising'. Learning to be calm and completely present is a truly liberating experience. It takes a hell of a lot of work to chip away at years of unhelpful habits and I know it'll be something I will need to maintain all my life.

Learning to meditate is the best thing I ever did. It takes no special skills and you can carry it with you everywhere."

"Meditation helps me to manage stress. I find it hard to switch off and I am not a good sleeper. Thinking about work exacerbates my insomnia; my mind races ahead or dwells on past events – stuff like that. But meditating just before going to bed helps me to relax and bring me back to the present. It has really helped with my sleeping problems.

If you’re thinking about doing meditation, have a go - what is there to lose? Try not to over think it, go with the flow and be patient if you don’t ‘get’ everything straight away. Keep an open mind, make time for yourself to meditate on a regular basis and it will come."

"I have an active life and a job I’m passionate about, which means my head can get pretty full at times. I felt that I needed to develop the skill to slow down my mind and even clear it completely from time to time.

Thanks to meditation, I am now more able to control what goes on in my mind, almost choosing which thoughts to focus on and which to dismiss.

Meditation has become habitual for me now and 5-10 minutes per day creates perspective and gives me time to appreciate each moment.”
