June is a great month to reflect on how the year’s going so far; for us, it was our busiest yet! We celebrated International Yoga Day, went on our weekend retreat and, as always, did lots of meditation.
Here, we take a look at some of the highlights from June 2017…
We were excited to welcome Sam Travis to join the beanddo team this month to help with our business development.
Sam will be helping to develop our business strategy, as well as cultivating and linking with new beanddo partners and collaborators.

International Yoga Day
Mick was invited to present at two large yoga events in Manchester to celebrate International Yoga Day 2017.
In Manchester city centre, The Life Centre invited Mick to lead an open air meditation in the heart of Deansgate. Mick made use of the city’s surroundings, incorporating stone seats, passing traffic and the summer rain into the meditation, but as Mick says;
“that’s Modern Meditation just where it needs to be, right in the heart of the city…”
It was a great success, raising lots of cash for the charity 42nd Street, who help with the emotional and mental wellbeing of young people. Earlier in the month over in MediaCityUK in Salford, Mick was invited to give a short talk on the power of Modern Meditation and then lead a little taster.
Organised by Holistic Manchester, this is a new international initiative bringing yoga to cities across the UK.
Living well in Salford
beanddo was also invited to work with Campus Living Villages, a worldwide business providing student accommodation and services. As part of their staff wellbeing week Mick led a couple of special workplace mediations with the team over at Salford University.
Our Annual Retreat
16 yogis joined us in the beautiful Eden Valley for a weekend of yoga and meditation. As well as lots of yoga and meditation, great food and wonderful people the retreat has a serious side too: how do we use yoga to help us all #makehappywork?
Catherine told us afterwards;“The retreat was both serious and light-hearted, demanding and giving and the instruction was skilled and empowering”.
Be Here Now
This month we concluded yet another amazing Introduction to Meditation at The Life Centre North. It was also the debut of our first beanddo trained teacher Anna Kravec.
In July, we look forward to starting a special course, Yoga for Anxiety, at The Life Centre North, with Mick leading the classes.
Phew, that was our June! Thank you to everybody who participated in one of our sessions, or has contacted us to request a meditation taster session for their workplace, we’re looking forward to working together in July.
