The first thing you need to do is download your free course book -

Making Happy Work.

A beginner's guide to navigating the world with meditation'.

The book published by beanddo Founder Mick Timpson in 2019 is the based on the Modern Meditation courses beanddo run in business, schools, universities, health care, social care and communities across the UK and EU.

The practices described here are not substitutes for medical care, and if you are receiving treatment you should consult your therapist or medical professional.

Here is Mick Talking about the book:

Mick introduces his Making Happy Work. A beginners’ guide to navigating the modern world with meditation.

Navigating through the course - A different way of Observing

Remember Modern Meditation is simply a change of perspective, a different way of perceiving and when we understand that and then learn to apply this new way of observing everything in your world changes...That's why the first three sessions located on the beanddo map are called NOTICING, LOOKING and SEEING. We are going to fine tune how we observe.

Mapping the journey

The course is based on the beanddo Modern Meditation map which is also featured in the course book Making Happy Work! This is important as the map will guide you through the 8 practices.

PART TWO - This part then takes you around the beanddo map exploring how Modern Meditation practice will empower you step by step. It covers:

  • Navigating the map

  • Noticing

  • Looking

  • Seeing

  • Thinking

  • Feeling

  • Knowing

  • Being

  • Doing

  • Final thoughts - take inspired action!

Enhance your learning:

To get the most from this important learning experience have the book handy every time you are here.

We will be referring to parts of the book as you progress through the course.

The book is 290 pages fully illustrated with lots of tips and insights. The core of the book is divided into two parts:

PART ONE - This introduces the core tools, techniques, science and application of Modern Meditation. It covers:

    • Being different, doing differently

    • A short note on mindfulness and meditation

    • Meditation is not what you think

    • Being Happy

    • What does meditation feel like?

    • What are the benefits of meditation

    • Who does meditation work?

    • Being and doing

    • Preparing to practice

    • Everything that isn't you

Mike introduces the 8-part Modern Meditation map

So in summary the map is simply a way of you charting and following how your Modern Meditation practice is helping you shape and reconfigure different aspects of your life. Each of the following Modern Meditation sessions will focus on each of the map locations.

Understanding the different stages

It's important to know that these are not different meditations - they are different practices of meditation. I have arranged each location in this order because the idea is to expand, progress and explore in a clear and useful way. Stick to the order. That way the process will unfold more effectively for you.

The Modern Meditation path is both inwards and outwards so that you're being and doing simultaneously. Don't rush. Here is an extract from Making Happy Work that summarises how each of the eight locations mark and signpost the Modern Meditation path.
