Unlock the Art of FLOW with Mick Timpson

Join architect, artist, author, and beanddo™ founder Mick Timpson for an immersive creative experience designed to ignite spontaneous inspiration and deep creative flow.

In celebration of Somerset Art Week 2025, Mick will be hosting a series of Modern Meditation-based workshops—where creativity, play, and transformation come together.

What’s the focus?

Instead of chasing rigid outcomes, these workshops invite you to explore the joy of creative process, flow, and self-discovery—free from judgment or expectation. You’ll learn powerful techniques and mindsets used by artists, authors, and designers to unlock inspiration and reshape their creative lives.

Through flow drawing you will:

✨ Discover a creative voice that’s uniquely yours.
✨ Quiet self-doubt and trust your intuitive perception.
✨ Follow your energy—embracing what feels right over what seems conventional.
✨ Overcome creative blocks by uncovering their hidden messages.
✨ Express yourself freely, allowing creativity to emerge with intelligence and ease.
✨ Shift from product-focused thinking to a transformative journey of self-awareness.

This is more than a workshop—it’s an invitation to awaken your inner artist and experience creativity as a gateway to conscious transformation.

How to get out of your own way.

Mick uses a kitchen roll tube to demonstrate how to stay open and flow.

Creativity is all about process and not product.

Mick takes a break from his sculpture work to talk about the Art of Flow Workshop at his home, Ananda Barn in Somerset.

Creativity is a three-part process which can be enhanced and explored.

Visit Mick in his workshop as he talks about his experience of using and enhancing creativity as a skill.

Creative flow in action.

Watch beanddo creative workshop participants utilise modern meditation techniques to open up to their own inner artist.

What’s the link between meditation and creativity?

Meditation is not something you do but something you are. So the only skill you will ever need in meditation is the ability to shift your perspective. This means that whether you are aware of it or not, awareness is happening now. It just is, constantly. Awareness is your essence, your source, underneath all your experiences, thoughts, feelings and actions. When, through these workshop techniques you combine these new insights with specialised active exercises you will discover:

  1. A profound personal empowerment, born from immersing oneself fully in the present moment.

  2. An embracing engaged flowing wholeness, cultivating qualities of equanimity and the art of remaining present amid any situation.

  3. Letting go of the need for control and meticulous planning. Instead, attune yourself to your intuition, trusting that you possess all you need to meet the demands of the moment.

  4. Learn to confront doubt, silence the inner critic, and forge ahead with unwavering courage.

  5.  Embrace vulnerability and the unknown; they are the gateways to breakthroughs, moments of joy, and deep insights.

These workshops offer more than a creative experience; it’s a new evolution of awakened living.

Discover a centered yet expansive outlook on life through active meditation within our tasks and exercises. These practices become tools you can apply in your daily life, transforming every circumstance and experience into opportunities rather than challenges.

Join us and let your creativity transform your world.

In these workshops, you will explore and utilise the same meditation based creative flow techniques Mick has developed over his career as an architect, author and artist. Here are some examples of Mick’s current adventures in creative flow…

The beanddo Modern Meditation teaching uses four powerful interconnecting practises: ATTENTION, AWARENESS, ATTITUDE and ACTION.

The four A’s help you rediscover a deeper state of awareness-shaped perception. The term rediscover: here is important. You have already come hard-wired with these skills. Over the years, you have unconsciously narrowed and distorted these skills from open, free-flowing creative perception to a distorted focus shaped by a lens of habitual thought, feelings and action.

We arrive at a new place in the world where what we do feels meaningful, purposeful, and real. This is where you readily tap into your own sources of creativity, insight, and curiosity. It’s where every action you take has a rightness and authenticity to it. With practice, this new sense of flowing will expand, enabling you to hold space for others, too. This is real leadership.
